Maer Hills is a beauty spot located to the western edge of the North Staffordshire conurbation, made famous by Charles Darwin, with its public footpaths enabling people from far and wide to appreciate its tranquility, views and wildlife - see our gallery.
Claymoss Properties have submitted a planning application to build a wind farm consisting of four 125 metre (410 ft) high wind turbines.
Claymoss have also submitted a scoping report and received a scoping opinion from Newcastle Borough Council for a holiday village. This comprises of two hotels, 800 lodges, a shopping and entertainment complex, a golf course and car parks in the woodland of Maer Hills. A planning application for the holiday village has not yet been submitted to the Council.
The Maer Hills Protection Group was formed in 1992 to protect the landscape, wildlife habitat and public amenity of Maer Hills, which is under threat once again from inappropriate development.
On this website you will find information which should help you make a considered opinion as to whether the Wind Farm and Holiday Village should be built in this location. If you agree with the Protection Group then go to the Contact Us page and join us.
